Minutes from the AGM & Meeting 10.3.20

Hello thank you to all those who attended our virtual meeting last week. Also special thanks to Ian Soden and Pauline Soden, who are stepping down from their roles as Chairperson and Treasurer after many years of service to the school. A big thank you to the parents who have volunteered for the office bearer roles going forward. Our new line up is as follows:

Chairperson: Amy Carter

Secretary: Donna Grant

Treasurer: Paula Betts

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 12th May. Thank you.

Parent Council AGM

The next parent council meeting will be hosted on a Goggle meet through Google classroom, on Wednesday 10th March 2021, from 7pm. This is our AGM.

After many years of service, our Chairperson Ian Soden and our Treasurer Pauline Fox, are both stepping down from their roles as their youngest children will be moving up to secondary school in August. We are very grateful for all they have done for Parent Council over the past decade or so!

Kindly, Sarah Goudie has volunteered to take on the Treasurer role – Thank you Sarah! Amy Carter is happy to continue as Secretary or step into the Chairperson role depending on other volunteers that come forward. It is vital that we have parents to continue the good work that Parent Council do and maintain that link between the teaching staff, the parents and ultimately improve our children’s educational experience. It is not an onerous job being an office bearer in the committee, but it is a very rewarding one. If you are interested to find out more about the Chairperson and secretary role before the meeting please don’t hesitate to contact us on iansoden@hotmail.com or amygcarter@hotmail.com

All parents and carers of children from nursery to P7 are welcome to join us virtually on the 10th March.

Please see the minutes from our last meeting attached.

Thank you for your ongoing support

The Parent Council Committee.

Parent Council Fundraising

Due to the Covid Pandemic Restrictions Lochardil Parent Council faces new challenges with regards to fundraising.

This term we would really appreciate your support with the Christmas cards the children are designing themselves. Last year this raised approximately £500 for the PC funds which was excellent but we’re hoping to smash that target this year! Look out for the form coming home with your child and follow the instructions to place your orders online.

Another way that Lochardil PC can raise money is through ‘Easy Fundraising’. This is a scheme anyone can sign up for.  Every time you shop online at a wide variety of retail outlets (including eBay, John Lewis, M & S, Sainsbury’s, booking.com and many more), a donation is made to the school.  Please visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk and support ‘Lochardil Parent Council – Inverness’.  One you have registered it is a very simple system to use and basically boosts our funds throughout the year.  Please consider using this service and encouraging Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and friends to register too, as we recognise in the current climate and the run up to Christmas, more shopping will be done on line than ever before.

We have a Parent Council Fundraising Subgroup.  This small group of parents have been looking at fundraising ideas during the covid pandemic, like online quizzes or a virtual scavenger hunt.  Claudia would please like parents to email her any fundraising ideas or suggestions to claudiawills@hotmail.com

There is an ethos within the Parent Council that money raised will be spent that academic year so it can directly benefit your children at the school. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Meeting 30.9.20

Thank you to all who joined us for our on line Parent Council meeting. Despite our apprehensions, it went very well. Feedback from some parents suggested it suited them better as their spouses worked away. We may have to stick with online meetings for now but once we are back to meeting in person, we will attempt to have a virtual link so those can join from home for those who can’t make it. Please find the minutes and relevant documents attached. Look forward to seeing you next time.

Next Parent Council Meeting

The first Parent Council Meeting of 2020/21 is on Wednesday 30th September at 7pm.

Due to the social distancing restrictions currently in place, this will take place virtually through Google Classrooms. The link for the meeting will be posted in due course.

All parents and carers are welcome to join in.

If you have any questions or points you would like to raise, please email them to lochardilparentcouncil@gmail.com prior to the meeting.

Kind regards

The Parent Council Committee

Minutes of the January 2020 Meeting

Thank you very much to all who managed to attend our last meeting.  It sounds like it was another successful gathering with lots of lively discussion and a few laughs along the way too.

Please find attached the minutes, finance and Headteacher report as well as relevant documents.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 19th March and it would be great to see as many people there as possible as it is our AGM.  After years of service to the Parent Council our Chairperson, Ian and Treasurer, Pauline need to step down as their youngest children will move up to P7 in August.  We will be looking for volunteers for these roles please.  It isn’t a very onerous task but the reward of being more involved with what is happening at the school, to the benefit of your child’s education, is great.

Thank you

Amy, PC Secretary
